Australia is currently playing the first of two One Day Internationals (ODIs) against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first.

Australia's squad for this series has seen significant changes due to injuries and personal reasons. Key players such as Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Marsh are unavailable due to injuries, while Mitchell Starc has withdrawn from the upcoming Champions Trophy for personal reasons. Steve Smith is leading the team in the absence of regular captain Pat Cummins.

The Australian lineup features several new faces, with Matt Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk opening the batting, and Cooper Connolly slated to bat at number three.

This ODI series serves as preparation for Australia ahead of the Champions Trophy, which begins on February 22 in Lahore, Pakistan. Australia's first match in the tournament will be against England.

In other news, Australian spinner Matt Kuhnemann has been reported for a suspect bowling action following his impressive performance in the recent Test series against Sri Lanka, where he took 16 wickets at an average of 17.18. He is required to undergo testing within the next three weeks to assess the legality of his bowling action
